1.Use
the rubber bands to create all these figures on the geoboard
and calculate the areas of the yellow region of each shape.
Remember:
Perimeter is measured in units,
which are called: inches, meters, yards, etc. The area
however, is measured in units2,
which are called square inches, square meters, square yards,
etc.
Note:
The distance between 2 red pegs is equal to 1 unit length
or 1 unit width.
To
check you answers:
- Click
on one of the sides of a polygon.
- Click on Measure and look at the area that it
shows.
- Did you calculate the correct area previously? Discuss
with your partner.
